Our Mission

  • Acceptance of the individual as a whole–their experiences, beliefs, and identity.

  • Forte is the musical term for “strong”--and I fully intend to focus on strengths as well as their interests.

  • Family is so important in an individual’s therapeutic journey--whether biological, adoptive or chosen family. As well, the families of those we serve need just as much support and empowerment in order to best support their loved ones.

  • Identity is simply who and what the client identifies with–whether that’s their gender or sexual orientation, their disability, religion, class, ethnicity, or cultural identity–I aim to honor and uplift them as they are.

  • Respect for the client themselves, but also their journey, their input in the therapeutic process, wants/needs and what is most important to them.

  • Mastery; the feelings of achievement, competence, and autonomy that clients experience during the therapeutic process.

Our practice is founded on the principles of AFFIRM: Acceptance, Forte, Family, Identity, Respect and Mastery.

Meet the Owner

My name is Katie Nail, and I've been a board-certified music therapist for over five years! I received my Bachleor's of Music in Music Therapy from Arizona State University before moving up to Indianapolis for my clinic internship with Riley Hospital for Children. Upon completion, I passed my board certification exams and began working on the Waiver. I have a certificate in Trauma Informed Expressive Arts Therapy, and am currently working on a Perinatal Mental Health Certification.

My motivation to start my own practice stems from a desire to create a supportive, client-centered environment where individuals and their families feel valued, understood, and empowered. I believe that person-centered care is essential in helping clients embrace and celebrate their identities–including their disabilities–as integral parts of who they are. As a provider, I aim to ensure that more individuals have access to quality music therapy services that honor their identities and promote holistic well-being. As a current practitioner, I am excited every day about the possibility of working collaboratively with clients and their families to create meaningful therapeutic experiences that foster growth, self-acceptance, and joy.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Jake and we live just outside of Indianapolis with our daughter, Charlotte and our husky mix, Louis.
